About me
Our lovely Floyd is desperate for a new home, he has spent most of his life in kennels- nearly 2000 days now - as he was part of a big prosecution case. He is really looking forward to having a family of his own, and to living life as a pet dog.
Floyd is such a great dog and loves being with you having a fuss, he’s a big softy really! He definitely has his moments where he gets a little over excited but he responds very well to your voice. Living in a new home will be a big change for Floyd, so his new owners will need to be prepared that he may be unsettled to begin with whilst he gets used to his new home and family.
He isn’t used to being left alone for long periods of time, so having people based at home will really help him settle into life as a pet dog, and as he is quite sensitive to lots of noise, having someone around to reassure him will really help him out. Living in a more rural area would really suit Floyd, this means he doesn’t need to worry about noisy neighbours.
Floyd absolutely loves going out for his walks, he does this on his own or with other dogs, and he is such a good boy. Due to the nature of the prosecution case he was involved in he needs to stay on lead and has to wear a muzzle, but he is so used to this that it’s not going to be an issue for new owners - it’s his normal now. What he really loves is running around off lead, so having a garden (with at least 6 foot fencing) is a must and an added bonus would be going to a safe, secure, dog-specific off lead area so that he can really charge about and have loads of fun - he does this with his foster dad and has such a great time. He travels well in cars, even sleeping on the back seat, so new owners won’t have to worry about taking him places.
Floyd really enjoys being out and about meeting new people and other dogs - he is such a social boy - he already spends a lot of time with other dogs when he goes for his walks, and even lives with a little Chihuahua in his foster home with a member of staff, so with careful introductions he can live with another dog.
Through being fostered by a member of staff we know that he is housetrained (he even asks to go out) and we know that he sleeps through the night too - such a good boy.
The photos of him don’t show this, but Floyd is a large dog (40kg) and while he usually walks very well on the lead, he can be strong at times so will require owners who are capable of handling him. Floyd can live in a home with other dogs, but unfortunately not with cats or other small animals.
