About me
Poor little Mabel was abandoned at a vets and her owner was not able to be traced. She is now ready to find her forever home where she will be safe and loved.
Mabel is looking for a new family who have experience in caring for his type of breed such as French Bulldogs or other brachycephalic breeds. These breeds can suffer difficulty breathing (noisy breathing, increased breathing effort), exercise intolerance and increased risk of heatstroke. So exercise needs to considered and it is a good idea to offer mental enrichment alongside physical exercise to keep them entertained and prevent boredom. This breed can also suffer with ear issues, eye issues and need their face folds kept clean which is why Mabel needs a home that understands her breed.
Mabel can pull a little on the lead but does have moments of walking nicely - when she is not excited. Despite her breed she will still need an active home to keep her busy. She has limited basic training so that will need to be a project for her new owners. Mabel is generally very friendly with people she meets but can have her shy moments so is best with children of secondary school age. On her walks Mabel is friendly with dogs she has met but she is happy to carry on and do her own thing. For this reason we feel she is best as the only dog in her new home.
As Mabel was abandoned we have no information on her previous home experiences. She may need a refresher in house training and car travel training. Mabel will need someone based at home a good part of the day with the time she is left built up slowly as she settles in with her new family. She has been ok with the sights and sounds of the home environment but when the hoover was moving she did chase and bite it so her new family will need to have the time to desensitise her to this so she becomes calm and relaxed. She ideally needs her own garden for off lead activity and her own space to venture in to.
