About me

Lola is looking for a home that is experienced in owning Hounds due to Lola's traits, she needs someone who knows the breed.

Lola is a typical hound and always has her nose to the ground and is not the best at coming back when she is called because she is always on a scent, scenting is much more fun and interesting then us, this is the reason she needs an experienced Hound home. Lola needs an owner that is NOT working fulltime, as she needs to be kept mentally stimulated in the day otherwise she can be vocal. Lola can be strong on the lead, so she will need an owner that is physically able to hold her on the lead and give her the physical exercise that she needs. Due to her breed, she will need to stay on the lead. For this reason, she will need a large private garden with secure 6ft fencing for off lead play. Looking into renting local secure fields would be advisable.

Lola needs to live in a semi-rural location as she is noise sensitive and will bark at surrounding noises, so she cannot live in a heavily populated area and cannot live in a house that backs on to busy roads, footpaths, canals or heavily wooded areas, as she may bark.

Along with Lola's sniffing she can be unsure in some areas and then can be unsure around some dogs, for this reason she will need to walk in quiet areas where there are not lots of dogs. She will happily meet some dogs but can be worried by others, so careful socialisation will need to be done around other dogs. It is important that Lola does not get overwhelmed by lots of dogs if she is feeling uncomfortable. Lola could potentially live with a neutered dog, but it would completely depend on the introductions done here at the centre and it would need to be a calm dog. Lola could live with older secondary school age children. Lola cannot live with cats or small animals.

Lola does feel more comfortable and bonds easier with woman, so would need to be in a home where there is a woman living. Lola will need someone based at home that is not working fulltime to give her the training and enrichment she needs, she will then need a slow build up to being left. She may need a refresher in housetraining and car travel training. Lola would benefit from attending reward based training classes and also will need some classes for scent or search work.

If you do meet the criteria above for Lola then please send in an application form. Lola is a lovely girl, but she really does need to be in the right home with owners that are aware of the traits that come with her breed.
